What’s it like to be a Metropolis correspondent? From Sana’a to New York and from Beijing to Ouagadougou: in this series of portraits our correspondents tell about the city they live in, they show us around in their home and their workplace. Today, meet Hossein in Shiraz, Iran.

For now, this is the last contribution that our Iranian correspondent Hossein has made for Metropolis. Last week, the Iranian goverment blacklisted 60 international organisations. It’s now forbidden for Iranian citizens to have contact with these organisations. On the list is Hivos, the main partner of Metropolis. Because Hossein has had problems with the Iranian regime before and because we don’t want him to run any risk, we decided to stop the contributions from Iran for the time being. We regret this situation, because we always strive to present an unbiased view of what it is like to live and work in different countries all around the world. Hopefully, the situation will change soon and we can get back to working with Hossein.
